As the days get longer and the snow slowly melts into the sand of Michigan’s west coast beaches, I can’t help but think of summer. We love photographing families on the beach, creating memories that last a lifetime. This photograph of the Babcock family was created at Stearns Park beach in Ludington. It’s also one of the family’s favorite photographs as well. – rob

Farm girl
As many of you know, my family owned a John Deere dealership between Scottville and Ludington for many years. So, when Tiffany asked for her senior pictures to be taken on her farm north of Ludington, I naturally found her dad’s John Deere tractor to be a great prop. We also took some photographs on the Ludington beach as well and at the Mason County Central community field in Scottville.

Photo of the Week
We have a saying in our business, “the sun is our boss.” You do not really know what the weather conditions are going to bring you when you photograph outside. On this particular night, the weather conditions brought us an amazing photograph of a senior from Midland and his saxophone. This image was taken on the Ludington south breakwater. The conditions were perfect for an amazing photograph.
Meijer Gardens
Last week I brought my West Shore Community College Photography I class to Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids. Currently, the gardens features its annual butterfly exhibit. This time of year can be a challenge for beginning photography students so I always like taking them to the gardens because there is great lighting and warm temperatures. The butterflies and their surroundings make great subjects.
