Cruising on the S.S. Badger – Ludington photography

One of the perks of being a photographer and owning a photography business in Ludington is that you get to photography for the Lake Michigan Carferry Service. Every year I try to make a couple trips across the Big Lake on the S.S. Badger, the last great carferry of the Great Lakes. During the summer the Badger makes two trips across Lake Michigan from Ludington, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It’s a great trip and I would highly recommend it. Here are some of the shots I took during my recent crossing.

An article about our new studio

This article was featured on the business page of the July 27 edition of the Ludington Daily News. The story talks about businesses that have moved into downtown Ludington, including Alway Photography!

We are excited to be part of downtown Ludington while still servicing all of Mason County and western Michigan. We are still painting some walls but are open for business. An open house is being planned for sometime this fall.

Heritage – Manistee family pictures

Fourth of July weekend was the annual gathering of the Jim and Susan Snyder family at their homestead along the Little Manistee River. Jim’s dad bought the property many years ago as a family cabin. Seventeen years ago Jim and Susan made it their home. The Snyder family is best known in our area as the owners of Ludington’s and Manistee’s premier shoe stores, Snyder’s Shoes, the family business also started by Jim’s dad.

The grand finale to the family picture session was talking everyone into getting into the river. At the end, they couldn’t resist splashing each other!
